What Is Rhinoplasty?
Rhinoplasty, often called a nose job, reshapes the bone and cartilage of the nose to change its size, shape, or proportion. Some patients want rhinoplasty purely for cosmetic reasons, like smoothing a bump on the bridge or narrowing a wide tip. Others are addressing breathing problems caused by a deviated septum or other structural issue, and many combine both goals in one procedure. Rhinoplasty can also reshape a nose affected by rhinophyma, a condition that thickens and enlarges the skin of the nose over time. Because the nose sits at the center of the face, even a small change can shift how balanced the whole face looks.
